The York Rotaract Club was founded in 2010 with the aid of the three Rotary Clubs in York - Rotary Club of York Ainsty, Rotary Club of York Vikingsand Rotary Club of York. We are the only Rotaract club in York and one of four clubs in District 1040, which covers large parts of North and West Yorkshire. There are 79 Rotary clubs in this district.
Meetings We hold regular meetings each Thursday at 7.00 pm in the premises of the University of York (room L/N/007 in Langwith college) that we have close ties to. However we are expecting to change our meeting place to city centre in the near future. The first Thursday of the month is reserved for business speakers that usually give an insight into their own companies or talk about a particular charity project that we are interested in supporting. The third Thursday of the month is for social activities and the other two are for commitee
Joining New members, both male and female, are welcome to come along to one of our meetings and join the club!
The goals of the York Rotaract Club are: 1. To develop professional and leadership skills;2. To emphasize respect for the rights of others, and to promote ethical standards and the dignity of all useful occupations;3. To provide opportunities for young people to address the needs and concerns of the community and our world;4. To provide opportunities for working in cooperation with sponsoring Rotary clubs5. To motivate young people for eventual membership in Rotary. We organise and attend numerous social and fundraising events, including charity work, black tie dinners, social nights, bonfires and fancy dress discos throughout the UK. We also get the chance to develop skills which help with other areas of life and prove invaluable to professional development.
